I had so much fun watching the Red Carpet specials last night. Everyone looks so beautiful and there wasnt a single gown I wouldnt wear myself. Here are a few of my favorites.

Mila Jovavich was tied for my favorite head to toe. Her dark hair with her deep lips and textured white gown were all a hit with me. She is so slinky and just looks plain hot.

Rooney Mara is my girl who tied with Mila. You can probably see why, with her having the same color scheme as Mila, I guess thats what I was feeling last night. I think Rooney may have done better because her colors contrasted a little more. Her hair is so dark, her skin is so white, her lips were the perfect plum and her gown was just beautiful. I loved her bangs and her little bun in the back. When I was in middle school, I called that bun an egg.

Something else I loved about Rooney, is that she is still new to red carpets, and has no idea how to pose. I mean that in a good way. She looks like a normal person instead of the same old hand on hip, over the shoulder peek that we always see.

I love Rose Byrne for having a cute bob with heavy bangs. I saw people ripping her bangs on twitter, but I thought they went great with her overall look. I just love her anyway.

Michelle Williams wins for best dress color. I am obsessed with this tomato red gown. The fabric, the texture, the peplum, the broach..all perfect. And that blonde with the red. I just love her. I wanted her to win. I still havent seen her as Marilyn, but Im dying to.

Jessica Chastain had one of my favorite gowns on. I thought the pattern was beautiful, and only wish she would have had a low bun at her nape. Her hair color looked much better than a blonde would in this gown, but I like hair up when there is such a busy pattern. Those are my little adjustments, but she did look gorgeous anyway. Also, I loved her in The Help.

Angelina Jolie looked gorgeous. Her make up, her hair, her velvetylicious gown.but her posing had me going bonkers. Her leg sticking out in every single picture just started to bother me. Shes beautiful and talented and still on my best list, but just because your gown has a high slit doesnt mean you have to do the splits down the red carpet so everyone can see your leg. Ok?

Im so relieved to not be doing a worst list. Everyone just looked to good to rip on. Even the correspondents! Kelly Osborne! Giuliana Rancic! Some other blonde girl that I never heard of!

The show was actually pretty fun this year, with all the clips they did and the funny spoofs. I loved that cirque performance. But as usual, I enjoy the hair/dresses the most.

Who were your favorites of the night?

2012 Golden Globes

Did you watch the Golden Globes last night? I did an impromptu live discussion on my facebook page of the show and it was so fun! I think now that its award season, Ill have to do it more!

I have to say, I was very impressed with the women last night. The gowns, the make up, the hair. I wish I could say the same for the men. They were all way too tan. Oh well, they cant all be as suave as Leonardo DiCaprio I guess.

Alright, here are my favorite looks of the night!
Img

The cut and color of Reeses dress are perfect. The blood red looked great against her skin and hair. Normally, I would prefer a slicked pony with a structured gown like this, but she looked fresh and beautiful as she was. I couldnt find a photo of her without her hands on her waist, which was a shame because she was a hippy goddess in that red number, and her hands took away from that.

Img

Kate Beckinsales gown was such a great color on her. I loved the sharp neckline and her updo was the perfect choice.

Img

Nicole Richie walked onto the red carpet with straight up dinosaur hair, and I was feeling it. You know she had 20lbs of hair extensions in there, and it was beautiful. I want to recreate this look with some wave. Hot!

Img

Zooey Deschanel killed it. She looked so cool out there with her one of a kind Prada gown and her retro hair. I couldnt find a great profile shot, but she had some kind of sideburn chops that completed the look. I think she may have been wearing a wig, because her hair is normally a lot longer, and I doubt she cut it.

Img

I always love Michelle Williams, but it wasnt until she walked up onstage to accept her award that I saw how subtly slinky she looked in this gown. She could not be cooler. Showing hardly any skin and almost no jewelry, and she still looks gorgeous. Also, her speech about being a mom had me tearing up. Shes a lady. Oh yeah, and I loved that she brought her best friends Busy as her date.

Img

Claire Danes and Emily Blunt tied for first as my favorite gowns. I could not find a photo of Emilys gown anywhere though! They both chose dresses that looked perfect with their hair color.

Ive realized that my favorite gowns are usually sleeveless. I dont like strapless on me, so I think I naturally lean towards a little fabric up top. There were so many hits on the red carpet, I could have gone on and on. Felicity Huffman? Tilda Swinton? Laura Dern? They all looked awesome. Who am I missing?

Hair for the Tonys.

I guess Jen is my muse.

She comes over to hang out, and next thing I know, Im asking if I can do her hair. And she is saying yes. One thing leads to another and before we realize it, she has a full on do and Im a little out of breath and drinking gatorade to replentish my electrolytes. Having a fit of creativity can take a lot out of you.

Enough about me. Let me brag about Jen for a minute! Well, she was part of the lighting team for the biggest Broadway show of the moment The Book of Mormon, which swept the Tonys last night. It won in most of the categories it was nominated in, including best Lighting Design! Go Jen! (Have you seen this show? I have! If youve seen it, you know why its winning everything. Its unlike anything else on Broadway. So clever, so funny, so unique, so well done, and slightly inappropriate!)

So Jen had awesome Tony party hair. I was awakened this morning by texts of Jens night. She was standing next to the host of the night, Neil Patrick Harris, and she was holding the Tony for Best Lighting design. Im so proud of her!

On to the hair!

This only took about 15 minutes, which I find is all I need with Jens hair. I think its because it is so much like mine (aside from color and current length) that I feel like Ive stepped out of my own body and am just doing my own real bodys hair. I think if Jen reads this, she is going to say no next time I ask, because after re-reading, that just sounded weird.

Anyway, fun times playing with hair! And fun times winning Tonys!

Did you guys watch?

And on a side note, here is a photo of Jen and I together at the Book of Mormon opening night party a few months ago. Fun night dancing next to Paul Rudd and much of the cast from SNL.

Oscar Hair: Best and Worst

This lady made my jaw drop. No one does a center part better than Gwyneth. Maybe Mary Kate Olsen on her best day, but she wasnt thereso Gwyneth wins for best center part. I loved her gown and her hair. They complimented each other perfectly.

Mila Kunis won for best up-do in my opinion. It looks straight out of a silent film. Her dark hair with her lilac gown looks stunning. Her gown was one of my favorites of the night.

Scarlets hair has never looked better. This is by far the best length and color for her. I thought her unfussy hair was a nice surprise at the Oscars. And let me mentions that someone with a body like hers would usually go for cleavage galore and I like that she doesnt do that every year. Am I right?

Michelle Williams did it again. I love her bright blonde pixie, and I love her textured mermaid dress.  Shes a babe and I love her. (however, did anyone see her short uncomfortable conversation with Ryan Secrest? Awkward.)

On to the worst.

Amy Adams. This dress is stunning, and although she has amazing hair, I feel like it the wrong style for her structured gown. She needed something up.

As pretty as her waves were, theres no changing my mind, she needed it up.

Reese Witherspoon. I heard people say she had the best hair of the evening. I thought it looked like a clipped in hair piece from Claires. I usually love Reeses hair, but I dont know, I just didnt like this look. And to be honest, I wasnt crazy about the gown either. There, I said it.

Melissa Leo did her own hair, without a mirror, on the car ride over. Theres just no other explanation. (but hey, she won an Oscar, so)

Note: I kind of hate doing a worst list. Its mean. I think about how I would feel if I went out on the red carpet, smiling and thinking I look amazing and then got ripped apart by some local hairdresser on fire. So, I hope that the women on my worst list know that I think they are all beautiful and awesome. Plus they are basically for sure millionares and maybe that will help soften the blow. So if Reese or Amy or Melissa read HDOF, sorry guys!
