I love Brigitte Bardot so much that I could have a blog just about her and her hair and the beautiful pictures I find of her. She really is my idea of a perfect woman. Naturally pretty..with little imperfections like her messy hair and the gap in her teeth. I secretly always wanted a gap in-between my front teeth!

When I look at photos of Brigitte, she oozes confidence but also seems fun and playful. Look at her feeding this deer some grass! So cute! And her hair always looks incredible. She has inspired me to wear my hair half up more, which is the best of both worlds-hair edition.

When Jake and I were in Brazil a few years ago, we went to a little fishing village called Buzios. For various reasons that date back to the 1960s, this particular village worshiped Miss Bardot. They have a statue right on the water that I went to every day and got a million pictures with.

Out of all my hair idols, Brigitte is my main hair idol squeeze. My love for her will never falter.  This picture of her with the deer seals the deal.

Welcome to my first anti March blues hair sprucing challenge update! I’ve decided to update twice a week because I feel that once a week would make the post too long and boring. So far March has been cold, windy, gray and rainy for 3 out of 4 days. I’ve needed the extra hair play!

If you are just joining, I hate March. So to cope with the March blues, I’m wearing (and documenting) hair accessories every day this month. Hair Sprucing design by my good friend (and cousin through marriage!) Tiffany Breinholt!

I was sick on Monday with a stupid cold. I took turns watching movies, napping and checking facebook. One of the movies I watched was an old favorite “The Royal Tenenbaums”. If you haven’t seen it, you really should. Like all Wes Anderson movies, it’s got a cool/muted color scheme, dark humor and a dysfunctional family. Also, it was filmed in my neighborhood here in NYC and I recognize so many outdoor scene locations. I love when that happens.

Anyway, Gwyneth Paltrow’s character, Margot, is the best role she’s ever done. Margot wears a fur coat, a stripey collared dress and a blonde bob with a red barrette for pretty much the whole movie. Also, she has a wooden finger.But really, her straighty straight bob is spectacular.

Whenever I watch this movie, I remember that I want to be Margot for Halloween some year. Jake would make a great Richie if he grew his hair out!

I try very hard to not let the weather get me down, but every year, I hate March. In Tennessee, where I’m from, March is springtime. The dogwoods bloom and the temps rise into the 70s. But in NYC it’s usually pretty rainy and cold with the occasional tease of spring for a day. I struggle with this more in March than in February or January, because it feels like it’s not supposed to be cold anymore. Also, after February I’m just over the cold. A few years ago, my New Year’s resolution was to not complain about the weather anymore, and I’m proud to say I’ve done a pretty good job of sticking to it. However, by the time March rolls around, I feel like I need a little help to keep my non-compainy mood up.

This year, I came up with an idea to accessorize my hair every day for the whole month of March. It’s my attempt at keeping my hair and wardrobe playful and sprucey when I’m in the depths of my annual March blues. I’m really looking forward to this challenge! I plan to take a photo of my hair/outfit every day, and posting the pics every Friday.

I think March wont be so bad this year!

(ps no offense to any of you March bday people. mine is in february and that is universally the most hated month in the union.)

I can’t wait for the Oscars this weekend. I’m going to wear a dress, do my hair, put on some jewelry and walk down my grey West Elm carpet (rug) to my couch to watch the show. I love seeing everyone all done up in their best.

Another great way to keep your color looking beautiful, is to freshen it up with color tinted shampoos and conditioners. These are actually great even if you don’t color treat your hair. Do you ever feel like your hair just looks drab? I hate that! I sometimes feel like it look sickly when my color is looking bad.

My favorite line of color shampoos and conditioners is Davines. They have lots of different colors. I love using chocolate on my clients. I’ll do it even once in a while when they come in for a blow out just to give them a pick me up. This line is a little spendy, but the bottles are large and will last you a really long time, especially since you would only want to use it about once a week. Click here to buy!

Another great one is Manic Panic High Voltage Colorizing Shampoo and Conditioner. These are meant to compliment actual Manic Panic color, but I’ve used a little of the red/pink to give my hair a little umph when I was pinkish last summer.
