My favorite kinds of Fishtail braids are messy and pully. Listen, you can’t go wrong with any fishtail, right? I’m only saying the pullier the better.
1. Do a fishtail braid or two (I’m doing two). If you don’t know how, let me know.
2. Secure with an elastic.
3. By all means, pull on it.
4. Pull a lot more.
5. Keep pulling until you’ve pulled at every part of the braid. It should be nice and wide and also nice and fuzzy.
6. Build your style from there.
7. Stay tuned for a few style ideas. Aka, alternate endings.
Let’s give a round of applause for the worst lighting ever! It’s the best we could do at that time of night.

I used to know how to fishtail, but I forgot!!!!! Tutorial?
I would lovvvvve a tutorial on a fishtail!!!!! I have always loved the way they look but have no idea how to do one. Please and thank you!!!!
I Love a good fishtail! I feel like I’m forgetting something lately though because whenever I do one it starts falling out at the top by the time I’m at the bottom of my braid! Is it because I have layers? Or did I forget a little trick?
I used to get this done to my hair as a kid; so glad its making a come back!
I have the same problem as Jane because of my layers, but I do LOVE a good fishtail!
Like the gals above, I can never get a fishtail to work all the way down, especially not very tight. User error? Teach us!
A fishtail is actually one of the few things that I do know how to do with hair – too bad I got mine chopped to short for that. Actually I’m loving the change to shoulder length hair right now.
Anyway, I love the little thingy at the bottom of the post where we can scroll through what you’re wearing. It’s great!
Thank you for the information ! Very interesting!
O me o my. I need a serious tutorial because A. They are so cute. B. The only fishtails i have been lucky to wear were done by my cousin (she is in California, me in Montana… so this is not an everyday option unfortunately) C. I struggle at doing my hair in general so it just gets a touch of mousse and an air dry. Every. Single. Day. Of. My. life. Help!
I find these most interesting. It is amazing how things have chanfed or stayed the same in 50 years.
plate made with palace wind. The first step, with a hair stick hair do volume.
My hats off to everyone that’s out there helping and for the rest who are making it possible for them to be there.
