I love busting the beauty myths. In fact, I think I’d like to do a little beauty myth series!
First myth up for discussion….
You can’t go darker in the spring/summer.
There is no reason you can’t go dark in the spring or summer, even if you are a natural blonde. Hell, go witch dark for all I care! If you like your hair dark, go dark whenever the heck ya want! Apparently his myth makes me talk like a darn tootin’ Midwesterner.
Shifting focus back to the topic at hand..you can absolutely go dark in the spring and or summer.
After all, there is such thing as brunette mermaids too.

I always tend to go darker in the summer and brighter in the winter, usually varying shades of red. A bright red hue helps cheer me up in the dull winter months! Plus, my skin is paler then so I can pull the shade off more
Reags, if I didn’t know better I’d say that mermaid was you! Seriously, looks just like you.
How is the Pip? Miss hearing about her!
I spend as much time as possible on the lake or at the pool (not *in* the pool…avoid chlorine in the hair as much as possible) and my hair always turns orange if I try to stay dark. I try to do the hat and even sunscreen hair spray but it never helps. Any thoughts?
Love this, I have snow white skin but light brown hair and I was thinking of going almost black for that high contrast look… now I am going to do it! You make me braver about my hair:)
Yay! I love my hair it’s natural color (dark auburnish brown), but I get lots of pressure to go lighter, especially in summer. Now, if I could just get my slippery hair to hold some lovely mermaid waves…
i sure hope dark hair is ok in the summer cause that’s all i got
side note: darkie is usually an offensive term, i know that’s obviously not what you meant but maybe i’d change the title of this post?
LOL. I love this. I totally agree! I told my hubs the other night that if I believed in coming back after death, I’d want to be a mermaid (if there were such things) He responded with ” but I don’t like fish” LOL. I have a bit of both. My blonde through the top, and some 3v underneath and a few pieces in the fringe for that pop.
I have a hair appointment scheduled next week to take my blonde highlights back to more brunette (I’m a natural brunette with a ton of highlights). Glad to read it’s okay… although, to be honest, I am just sick of this blonde and would do the switch regardless of whether or not it’s acceptable
I fully agree, you can go dark anytime!! I find I usually go darker (red) in the summer just to stand out a bit from all the blonde!!
