Ah! I ALMOST told my stylist to take my longest layer to RIGHT beneath my shortest and give me a mostly-uniform length, based on YOUR hair! but I wasnt sure if it would work for me I think we have similar texture, but mines pretty uncontrollably thick. Now, I want to go back in get my layers faded in!

Thanks for the insight against the The Rachel Mentality!!!

WOW! I just LOVE the cut you posted. I think Ill be taking it into my stylist as soon as she gets back from maternity leave. Way to feed my cut bangs again??? addiction.

And good to know my growing out my layers over the last year was putting me ahead of the style curve for once.

Thanks to you, Im no longer straightening my hair. Im wearing a bob with a few layers and wearing it with my natural curl/wave. I totally took pictures of Alexa Chung to my stylist. Im so much happier not having to stress about my hair. Thanks so much for the inspiration. Love your blog!!

If your hair is straight, layers will create odd choppy sections all throughout the hair that do nothing for your shape. If your hair is wavy, you’ve already got natural shape and can enhance movement by having your stylist do internal cutting (or weight removal) rather than visible shattered layers all over the place. Layers like that can look downright crazy unless they are properly styled at all times, which leaves little room for variety. (Hairiety?)

Thank you!! This needs to be shouted from the rooftops and taught to every hair stylist. It took 27 years for me to figure this out and find a stylist who agreed for my thick, straight-but-wavy-in-the-back hair! My current hair is a long tapered bob (longer in front) with TONS of thinning in the back and the longest layer on top. I love it!

I have been seeing this girls haircut all over the place. I dont get it! The girl is beautiful, but the hair looks a fright to me, and not in that cute kinda way. What am I missing?!

  8. Ivy Says:

Oh gosh. I am thinking about cutting my almost-to-my-waist perfectly beach wavey Miley Cyrus hair to get this cut. Love Alexa Chungs hair.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! I am so over layers. I went to the hairdresser for a shoulder length bob and she suggested a few wee layers to give it some movement. I came out with a mullet. And my hair grows slow!
    So over the layers!

The Apple store is busy at any time of the day, any time of year, with people playing with the products or just hanging around – even if they have no intention of buying anything. I couldn’t imagine the same kind of crowds at a Samsung store.
